Design

Apple offers us here a phone with a choice of 6 sober and original colors to delight the most fashionistas among us. Opaque and colored windows equipped with the Ceramic Shield treatment developed jointly by Apple and Corning Glass engineers to limit breakage and shocks. The iPhone 12 mini is also entitled to True Tone technologies, for adjusting the screen lighting to the ambient light. Its OLED screen offers exceptional rendering thanks to P3 technology which offers excellent color fidelity, followed by True Tone Technology capable of adapting to ambient light.

Powerful

The iPhone 12 mini shows better results than its predecessor. In fact, for the multi-core part, the iPhone 12 mini is around 39% more efficient than the iPhone 11. The same for the graphics part, with a higher result of more than 34% and 184% higher than that of the latest model from the Samsung brand. In other words, on the GPU partition, the iPhone 12 mini largely dominates the iPhone 11 and turns out, via Geekbench 5, to be up to 3x more efficient than its opponent under Android. To summarize, the iPhone 12 mini offers better results than its predecessor and significantly outperforms its competitors.

Autonomy

With each new iPhone release, a clear improvement in autonomy is on the menu. Apple is progressing year after year and finally allows us to spend 16 hours on the phone with the iPhone 12 mini. If you are not one of those who spend 16 hours a day on the phone, know that you can use it all day without recharging problems. Like the latest models in the range, it is possible to charge your future iPhone via MagSafe technology, which ensures that the Qi induction charger is well placed and goes from 7.5 to 15 W in wireless charging. A significant gain, even if it takes a little time.

As with the iPhone 11, the camera has two rear camera modules, an ultra wide-angle, 13 mm equivalent, with an aperture of f/2.4 and a wide angle. A 26mm equivalent, with optical stabilization and an aperture of f/1.6 compared to f/1.8 last year. In other words, the wide-angle of the iPhone 12 mini lets in more light, and the result is unparalleled. The TrueDepth camera on the front allows for night mode portraits and is now compatible with Deep Fusion, an algorithmic technology that ensures that every pixel in a shot is correctly exposed, contrasted, and more. This is achieved by taking several simultaneous photos.

Our opinion

Excellent value for money for the iPhone 12 mini which exceeds its predecessors while remaining very efficient despite the release of new models from the Apple brand. You will make a good investment with this contemporary model. Power and performance will be there and you will be able to keep it for a few years without feeling harmed by the various technological advances. To summarize: 5G, very satisfactory autonomy, power and design. All at a reasonable price.
